America’s Favorite Pastime

Tyler Herbst, Baseball

A team player sport loved by millions around the world, baseball is America's favorite national pastime. It is a physical sport played by two teams of 9 players each. Each side gets nine innings. Whichever team scores the highest at the end of the innings wins the game. There are players like the pitcher, batter, runners and catchers, etc.

Popularity of baseball around the world

Have you ever heard of the Red Socks or the Yankees? Or have you ever seen the acronym MLB? If you have, then you already know what baseball is. The sport is played by people in many countries worldwide, such as Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Central America, etc. So now that we have established what baseball is and how it works let's talk about coaches.

Baseball a part of culture

Elementary to middle school and university, each school has its baseball team, like how you would find a basketball or football team. And each of those teams, no matter at school or professional level, has multiple coaches. The coaches' jobs include promoting appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, good sportsmanship, deciding the lineups and the substitutes. They might seem strict, over the top, and stereotyped, but if a team has a good coach, its probability of winning a match increases times fold.

Coaches and their importance

A coaches' assistance is required for a smooth functioning team to play. Head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, assistant managers, and almost a half dozen other coaches are there for a baseball team to run without hitches.
